How to use key events in GA4? What exactly is it?

Main Post:

So universal studio used to have ‘goals’ in it however, GA has key events. Does any one know how to use it? What exactly is it? How important it is?

Top Comment: Even I'm facing a lot of issues with GA4. I use GTM makes my life easier

Do you usually use Unity events or C# events? if the latter, what type of event do you use, cause I've seen there's EventHandler and Action, and many more I suppose. So which one do you mostly use?

Top Comment: You should always be using standard events or delegates, unless you need to expose it in the inspector. And honestly, moments where it's actually a good idea to wire up events in the inspector are exceedingly rare. It creates way more problems than it's worth and should absolutely not be your default pattern.

Tip: Make sure you use the Events API for conversion tracking

Main Post:

If you want to maximize your ROAS on TikTok Ads, you need conversion tracking.

But this means more than just "install the TikTok Pixel" on your website.

It turns out that the TikTok Pixel, and other 3rd-party tracking scripts, can be totally blocked by users who have adblockers installed. So this can actually can cause discrepancies between your actual sales, and what gets logged in the TikTok Ads Manager.

As a workaround, TikTok has a server-side API (called the Events API), where you can report conversions: https://ads.tiktok.com/help/article/events-api

A typical use case: installing a Shopify app that reports purchases to TikTok every time an order is placed.

As far as actually implementing it, you'll either need to be able to code, or have someone on your team who knows how to code. It's a bit more complicated than the client-side Pixel installation, because you need to send an HTTP request to TikTok's server manually, and also capture the value of the `_ttp` cookie and `ttclid` query parameter TikTok gives you.

I did it myself, and it took a few hours, but thanks to the TikTok Events API, I've been able to accurately track signups for my newsletter.

I'd love to make a part 2 of this post where I walk through how to implement the events API on your own, maybe with example code. Just comment and let me know if you're interested.

Top Comment: Would love to hear a part 2!

I only use it for collection events and mindless medal grinding. 95% of the time I'm playing CHIMPS, but I will defend double cash to the death

Top Comment: I don't mind double cash users but I hate those who keep on saying "just use double cash bro" when people are frustrated in half cash

If Blizzard insists on continuing to use scheduled events, the length/difficulty need to scale with the number of participants

Main Post:

So, I'm sure anyone who has tried it so far is aware now. Researchers Under Fire takes forever to do because it has way too many steps, at least 4 of which involve killing a bunch of elite mobs. I only know what you do for 4 steps because I tried it for the first time this morning before work, thinking I would definitely be able to get it done within 20-30 minutes. After about 25 minutes of trying, with only two other people, I had to give up because I ran out of time before I had to get ready to leave for the day. We had only completed three out of twelve steps.

That feels like something Blizzard has screwed up with these events. For the most part, you can't solo them. They assume a group, even something more like a small raid. But you can't just form a group whenever you are available to do the content. I'm a working adult with three kids and a social life. I don't really have the luxury of playing games when it is convenient for the schedule of the NPC's. I've had multiple weeks this expansion that I just don't complete the weekly quest because I wasn't online and available to do the scheduled event as it's happening. That in itself is frustrating. But not being able to complete the content when I'm available to do it because it's too hard feels shitty.

I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard's thinking with Researchers Under Fire is to fix the Dragonbane Keep problem. Specifically, that the Dragonbane Keep event only happens every 1.5 hours, but is completed within 15 minutes. So instead, they made an event that takes so long to give players a better chance at getting some credit. However, I think there's a better solution than making an event with the extreme opposite problem.

The difficulty of these events should scale dynamically with the number of players in the area. If there's only one player, that player should be able to complete at least some version of the event by themselves. So, for instance, I should have really only needed to complete 3 or 4 steps of Researchers Under Fire with much easier goals for only having three people. But, if you have 20 people on, then it can be more like 9 or 10 steps with stronger enemies.

Soup is a really good example of how they've already made a version of these events that already works this way. If you're the only person there, you are the only person who gets tasks from the chef, none of which are difficult to complete by yourself. You will get a worse quality version, but you will get credit for an event you are basically guaranteed to complete.

In all reality, I kind of just hope this sort of content is quietly forgotten by 10.2 as a failed experiment. But if we really have to keep it in the game, it needs to take into consideration that there aren't always a bunch of people there for every scheduled event and not everyone has the time to make sure they complete it.

That would be nice.

Tried doing a trial of floods last week when it just so happened to pop as I was flying over it, and that was rough on a DPS class. Eventually had to run away and go back to what I was doing.

What tools do you use for visualizing kafka topics, events, and consumer groups?

Like, I'm working with lot's micro-services now, to be exact 112. And There is just 2 or 3 guys, including me, who has idea about the whole system. Now I want to create a mind-map, before I leave. It would be awesome if we could simply visualize kafka topic, and which service is producing, which service is consuming, that would be great. At least visualizing from group to group would be helpful as well.

Additional information: I'm using Spring Boot to develop our micro-services.

So the question remains, how can I visualize kafka???

Top Comment: I've been using redpanda's console and it's pretty awesome. You should be able to use it with any implementation of Kafka(that's what I'm doing).
